Common Questions

  • What type of wood do you use in your cutting boards?

We use a combination of domestic hardwoods from New England; Walnut, Cherry, and hard Maple.

  • How do you finish your cutting boards?

We sand our cutting boards up to 220 grit and then let it soak in food-safe mineral oil. This will help prevent bacteria from growing in the pores of the wood. Lastly we put on food-save wax from Walrus oil, which consists of natural ingredients, to protect and give it a nice sheen.

  • What's different about your boards vs. big box stores?

Big box stores typically make face-grain cutting boards which are weak, leave more knife marks, and will dull your knives faster. We use the end grain of wood which is more forgiving on the knife and is strong than the face grain of the wood, leaving less knife marks. Find more info about types of boards, here.

  • What are your cutting boards sizes?

Our current sizes, in inches, are 6x9, 9x12, and 12x15.
